Vacation Week is here

Vacation week is here and I probably won't ski again until New Years Day unless I go to Saddleback. Conditions today were not as good as earlier in the week, but its not bad. It was quite firm today, hard and fast. The ungroomed isn't too bad. Upper West Mtn was the trail of the day, it was all packed powder and corduroy and the West mtn x-cut was fast. Snowmakers started resurfacing Kings Landing around noon time.

Great Day

Today was a great day, temps were in the low 20's, there was only a little wind and we had snow flurries all day. Conditions excellent on some trails and awful on others, I would say its very variable, watch out for ice patches. I had some great powder runs today, but Im not saying what trail, I want it all to myself tomorrow, Its got lots of deep powder though.

Snowmaking today on Haulback, Comp Hill, Sidewinder, Snowbrook, and Tote Road.

New Snow

We got about 6 inches of new snow last night and today. It was very powdery. Conditions were variable, yeah we got 6 inches of powder, but its on top of hard pack and ice, so you really had to be careful. Fan guns were being set up on lower Tote Road today, so we may finally see a lot of them in action. Scoot was probably my best run, but Widowmaker and Boomauger were also a lot of fun. I skied in the woods a little today, it was very firm underneath, but it was great to ski powder in the woods.

Snowmaking today on Haulback, The Yard, and the Birches.

A bit firm

Today conditions were a bit firm, after yesterday's warm weather, everything froze solid this morning. only the superquad and spillway ran today, snowmaking on Spillway X-Cut and Haulback. We could get some snow tonight and tomorrow, possibly up to 10 inches

Saddleback Sunday

I went to Saddleback on Sunday, conditions were incredible. The Groomers did an amazing job, most trails were nothing but packed powder, 2 of the heavily traveled trails were a little firm but still not bad. I skied 2 trails around noon that were nothing but fresh corduroy and only 1 or 2 other people had already skied them. The new quad is great, its low to the ground, the wind was worse on the double.

An interesting week

This week has been interesting, monday it was very cold, then Tuesday it warmed up and there was practically no wind in the morning, then all of a sudden the wind picked up and the mtn shut for the day, but by 2:30 the wind was gone. Wednesday it was 40 and raining, then last night it all froze and today was quite cold and tonight we're supposed to get about a foot of snow. Saturday its supposed to be very cold again. Conditions today were quite good considering the weather we;ve had.

Timberline is Open

Timberline opened today around noon, it was quite cold up there but conditions on Timberline were worth braving the cold. Conditions were a bit firmer than yesterday, but it was still very good. They didnt groom much last night so there wasn't much open. Sluice was really good today because of the blowover from Spillway. Snowmaking today on Spillway, Lower Narrow Gauge, Upper Timberline and The Landing.

More Snow

We got another 3-4 inches of wet snow last night. Conditions were not as good as yesterday, but it was still pretty good. The snow was heavy to push around but really helps the base. All this new snow is helping too open more trails. We could see Whiffletree, King Pine and Timberline open this weekend. This morning the mtn was socked in with fog and there was freezing drizzle, but by noon the fog lifted and there was lots of blue sky.
