An Incredible Warm Sunny Day

Wow what a day today was. Warm, temps in the high 20's, probably low 30's at the base. It was mostly sunny, there were a few clouds but not bad and there was no wind.

Conditions today were great. Ripsaw was in great condition, some nice big bumps. Widowmaker was a bit scratchy at the top but most of the trail was perfect, Flume was really good as was Ramdown. Boomauger had some nice bumps too, a few rocks here and there but nothing serious. Lower Boomauger was groomed and was in great condition. Whiffletree, Cruiser and Buckboard were all packed powder. Gondi Line was perfect packed powder too. Sluice was incredible this morning, perfect corduroy. Double Bitter was groomed the other day so its flat, its mostly hard pack/Packed powder, the grooming did cover a lot of rocks. Glancer was also in great condition.

Narrow Gauge was closed today for racing.

Bright skies and warm

Vacation week is over, and The Weather and conditions today were incredible. It was sunny with temps in the 20's and low 30's at the base, with no wind at all. Conditions were great, but you could tell the mtn took a beating last week. Widowmaker and Ramdown were in perfect condition this morning. Upper Gondi Line was great first run, but 30 minutes later when I went back there were a lot of scratchy places. Buckboard was groomed last night and it was in excellent condition. Sluice and Lower Gondi were in perfect packed powder condition. Kings Landing was perfect first thing. Windrow was in decent condition for the most part, the very top was quite icy but the rest was great. Glancer had not been groomed and was a little bumped up, the snow was firm but good. Timberline wasnt very good, it was quite scratchy and granular.

The Superquad ran on Diesel today and then shut down around 2PM, not sure if it opened again.

I didnt see anyone in the Yard Today.

Vacation week is over

Vacation week is over, its been a crazy busy week, the ski conditions have been great all week and the snow has really held up well. Today was warm in the 20's and mostly sunny and only a little wind. Tomorrow is supposed to be about the same. I did not ski today, but ill be back out there tomorrow and take plenty of pics. All in all its been a great week, ASC is falling apart and we could possibly be seeing a new owner soon. Who? Who knows, but there are lots of rumors. The Latest is Les Otten , Warren Cook and a third guy have formed a company that will be buying Sugarloaf and Sunday River. Its only one of many rumors. We'll see. Hopefully we'll see new owners and some new management soon, its time for some to go away.

A Great Day

Today was a great day, we had temps in the 20's, no wind, but it was mostly cloudy. Conditions are fantastic, the surface is mostly packed powder, a few scratchy places to be found but nothing serious. Ripsaw was great today, filled with big bumps, Haulback was in good shape today as was Boomauger which was bumped up with nice soft bumps. Lower Boomauger was ungroomed not bumped up and was packed powder. Upper Tote Road was packed powder and great cruising. PipeCleaner was in excellent condition. Upper West Mtn and Glancer were ungroomed but in excellent condition as well, basically everything is in great condition. With all the people here this week, conditions are holding up well.

Has anyone else noticed that Narrow Gauge Ext is not open yet, the only trail with snowmaking not yet open.

Conditions are incredible

Today was overcast and started off quite cold and a little windy. Temps rose throughout the day and it was quite nice this afternoon. Winds kept Timberline closed all day. Conditions are incredible, everything is packed powder and soft bumps. The Trees between Skidder and Hayburner were incredible, tons of powder. Boomer Glade needs more snow, but wasn't bad but Cant Dog needs a lot more snow. Misery Whip, Ripsaw and Boomauger were in great condition. Crowds weren't too bad today even though cars were parked in lot F.

Killington, Pico, Mount Snow, Attitash and Steamboat have been sold, hopefully we are next.

An Epic Powder Filled Day

WOW, today was amazing. Early this morning it looked like it was going to be too windy to run anything then the wind died a little and DRC was able to open at 8:30 along with the t-bar. My First Run I rode up DRC and saw the insane line at the t-bar so I skied Kangaroo Hill, the powder was amazing, next run I took the t-bar and Skied SPillway, it was incedible and when I got to the bottom The Superquad was getting ready to open. Once at the top of the SQ, I skied Kings Landing which was mostly untouched. Next Run I skied Gauge, for some reason nobody was skiing it, it was amazing, the headwall was incredible and I went over to Lower Comp which had plenty of untouched lines. The next 4 runs I skied Glancer, my first run down there were only 4, maybe 5 other tracks and was probably the most untouched trail all day. 30 inches of snow is what we needed, Vacation week is going to be a good week for everybody.

What we've been wating for

This storm is what we've been waiting for and conditions are now Epic, it snowed hard most of the day, it started early this morning and will probably end tomorrow morning sometime, as of 4:00 there is a good 12-14 inches in the valley and probably at least 16 at the base and probably 18-20 up high. I was excited this morning but I waited until this afternoon to go out, waited for the snow to really pile up. This was definetly the best day so far this year, it was so incredible, the glades are all filling in and I didnt find any rocks anywhere. Winds arent a problem yet, Timberline was the only closed lift today, but winds are expected to be an issue tomorrow, probably going to be a t-bar day.

Calm before the Storm

This morning it was very windy and cold, I went out skiing around 11:30, temps were in the single digits, it was mostly sunny and only a little windy, Spillway East ended up opening, but it stayed too windy for King Pine and Timberline. Conditions are still great, but its definetly gotten firm and some areas have been blown off. Ramdown, Widowmaker, and Whiffletree were great, just a little firm, Sluice was great firm but very edgable and everything else was like that too. We've got a storm coming tomorrow so conditions will be getting even better. Snow should start falling early tomorrow morning and become heavy late tomorrow afternoon.

It was Windy but at least it was warmer

Today was a great day, it was mostly sunny, temps in the high single digits and it was quite windy, the t-bar and the Superquad were the only lifts running. Conditions today were incredible, there were very few people skiing today so there was plenty of corduroy out there all day. Sluice, Spillway and Narrow Gauge were incredible. The Trail of the day was Ramdown/Whiffletree, for my last run I took the t-bar and hiked to the top of spillway and skied Ramdown from the top. The top part of Upper Windrow needs more snow, there were quite a few rocks sticking up and some ice, but the lower half was incredible. Lower Gondi line had some hard packed spots, but was mostly packed powder. Wedge was great.

There is a snowstorm on the way, Wednesday should be a great day

Heat Wave

Today certainly wasn't warm, but it sure was much warmer than any day this week. Today we had temps in the teens, it was mostly cloudy and there was only a slight breeze, all lifts ran today. Conditions are incredible and held up great since the crowd was spread out. Cars we parked in lot F Today but lift lines were not bad. There was some ice around but there was also plenty of good snow. Ripsaw, Choker, Misery Whip and Boomauger were all in great condition today, some rocks, and a need for a weedwacker, but a lot of good snow. Widowmaker was great on the sides. Upper Double Bitter(The part from spillway to the superquad) was perfect. I skied to the bottom of West Mtn today, the trail wasnt bad, a little hard packed but it was a great cruise. Glancer was in great shape today and Windrow had plenty of carvable snow.

Snowmaking today on Upper Haulback, Hayburner and Upper Gondi Line and will go to Tote Road tonight.

Ended up being a great day

Today started off very windy and cold, this morning it was basically the Superquad and the t-bar running, but around noon everything but Timberline opened. We had temps today around 0, with strong winds in the morning subsiding in the afternoon, the sun was out so it didnt feel as cold as it could have. Conditions today were fantastic, this is going to be a great weekend. I did notice some windblown areas mostly at the top of Hayburner and Kings Landing, besides that the groomed was all packed powder, Kings Landing, Sluice, Spillway, Ramdown, Whiffletree and Windrow were all in great condition. Cruiser is now open and has been groomed, its not bad, only a few areas to watch out for. Moose Alley looks neglected, its very grown in. The Ungroomed is also quite good, Double Bitter is in far better condition than it was early last week, there are still a lot of rocks to watch out for, but The bumps are outstanding. Glancer hasnt been groomed, but isnt bumped up too bad. Winters Way is actually quite good, some rocks, but a lot of good bumps and some great snow. The Glades need a lot more snow, I skied one today and it had a lot stuff that needed to be covered up. I havent heard yet if they are making snow this weekend but I would think they would since Gondi Line is not open yet.

The Best Day of The Year

Today was the best day of the year and the skiing was good too. The weather was a little nasty today with temps in the single digits and a stinging wind. Winds were nasty but only bad enough to close Timberline. It was mostly cloudy today with some breaks of sun. Conditions are incredible, the ungroomed is quite good and the groomed is incredible, the groomers have done an amazing job, everything is deep packed powder corduroy. The Glades are starting to fill in, some have been skiable for awhile and are getting better. Narrow Gauge was closed today for racing.

Skiing was great today

It was great to finally be able to ski the entire mtn after 4 days of winds and lots of people on Saturday. It was very cold today but with very little wind, so it wasnt bad. we had temps today in the single digits, it was 2 degrees at 1PM at the top of Spillway. It was mostly sunny but there were times of flat light. Timberline did not run today because of wind, but the wind didnt affect anything else. Conditions are incredible, everything is packed powder, but there are few places that are blown off. The Ungroomed terrain is for the most part very wind packed. Candyside has some pretty nice rollers from snowmaking this weekend. Upper Gondi Line is not open yet, but guns are set up and ready to go. Hayburner and Narrow Gauge were closed for racing today.

Another Very Windy Day

The past 2 days have been extremely windy and cold. Winds of 100mph were blowing at the top of Spillway, even the t-bar had to be shut down, not just because of wind but cold too, The Superquad closed yesterday and today before noon. This afternoon the t-bar did reopen. Winds look like they will die down tonight and tomorrow shouldnt be too bad. We have a locals race tomorrow so hopefully its not so cold.

6-8 Inches of New Snow

Today we had temps in the teens and it was mostly sunny, we got 6-8 inches of new snow and it was very windy. This morning The Superquad, DRC and The T-bar were the only lifts running creating some amazingly long liftlines. The Singles line for the Superquad was the longest it has ever been stretching all the way to the bottom of Lower Tote Road. Eventually the wind died down and some lifts opened. All parking lots were filled and cars were parked on the road. I did not ski today, but I do know that for the first few runs conditions were incredible, but then became quite a mess with people everywhere. Not a bad thing, its great to see people here. Snowmaking was happening too, Lower Nitro and Scoot.

Warmer weather is on the way

Today we had temps in the single digits, it was mostly cloudy and he had a hint of wind, Timberline opened later in the day. Conditions today were great, but there are a few trails that could be better. This morning Widowmaker, Tohaul, Flume and Ramdown were all great packed powder corduroy, Whiffletree was better than yesterday. Hayburner was a bit hard packed but not bad. Timberline, and Scoot were great. Upper Windrow was a bit variable, but lower windrow was perfect packed powder. Norton started working on the New Park today. I skied PipeCleaner this afternoon and its in great condition for the amount of snow we've had.
