Groomers are doing an awesome job

Today temps were in the single digits, it was mostly sunny with a few clouds and we had just a little wind. Conditions today were incredible, The Groomers have outdid themselves this week. A lot of trails were getting quite firm last week, but the groomers have ground it all up and conditions are mostly packed powder with only a few hard pack spots. Widowmaker, Flume and Ramdown were perfect today, Whiffletree was a little hard and fast but better than last week. Sluice was closed today for racing, Upper Spillway was incredible, lower spillway was a little scratchy. Upper Winters Way still has good snow, there are rocks to watch out for, but considering how much snow we've had, its great. Lower Gondi Line was nice and soft Carvable corduroy. Hayburner and Kings Landing were packed powder too. Timberline was untouched corduroy when I skied it this afternoon. The Superpipe is now open, it needs more work, but its not bad for the first day. Construction on the new park should start soon.

If you didnt see The WSKI morning show today you missed a great show, be sure to catch it form 6-8PM tonight if you can.

Brrrr What a Cold Day

Today was very cold, temps were in the single digits, but it was mostly sunny with only a small hint of a breeze. It wasnt bad out there if you were dressed for it. Conditions today were again almost perfect. Hayburner was hard packed but edgable. My run of the day was Timberline, Upper Windrow, Good Chance, Horseshoe, Lower Windrow, Lower Scoot, an awesome non stop run. Lower White Nitro and Wedge were excellent today. The Snowmakers really outdid themselves there was a lot of powder to be found, it was even better than Upper Nitro was yesterday. Temps are supposed to be even colder tomorrow so dress warm.

Snowmaking today on WHite Nitro and Wedge and will start up again on The New Unnamed park and also on Sluice tonight.

Its been a running joke about the park not yet having a name, maybe it should be call THE NO NAME Park, Unnamed Park or You Name It(its already on the trail map like that)

White Ntro is now open

This afternoon the sun came out, but most of the day it was cloudy with temps in the teens and a lite breeze. We had some snow squalls too. Conditions are good, but things are starting to firm up again, we need some more natural fast. Ripsaw was fun today, still plenty of good snow. Haulback was a bit variable, and lots of hard packed to be found. Widowmaker was in great condition and Ramdown was hard and fast but good. Boomauger needs more snow but was in decent condition. Whiffletree is mostly packed powder. Tote Road is still good and should be able to handle a lot of traffic. White Nitro is now Open and I have to say the snowmakers really did a great job this time probably the best a trail has been on opening day all year.

Snowmaking today on Lower White Nitro, Wedge, Comp Hill, Pipeline, The Superpipe, and the unnamed park.

All scheduled lifts opened today and conditions were great, most everything is packed powder, with a little hard pack mixed in. The ungroomed trails are in quite good condition. Glancer was great, plenty of snow, only a few rocks to watch out for. Windrow wasnt very good, it was very granular and variable. Double Bitter needs more snow, there are a lot of rocks to watch out for. Narrow Gauge was great late this afternoon. I skied Spillway for the first time today, it was very good, quite fast. A Great Day

Today was a great day, temps were in the teens, it was mostly sunny and there was no wind. Conditions are almost perfect, there are a few scratchy places that sneak up on you, but nothing too bad. Ripsaw is getting better, there is now a little more coverage and less whippers, it could still use a weedwacker, but its getting better. Haulback is good, the last pitch is a bit scratchy. The Top of Widowmaker us horrible because of a wet snowgun last week, but the lower 2/3's is great. Choker was fun, plenty of snow but it too needs a weedwacker. Ramdown is in great condition, mostly packed powder with a little granular mixed in. Boomauger is in great condition, plenty of snow, but again needs a weedwacker, the lower half is great. Whiffletree is in perfect cruising condition. Lower Gondi Line is in great condition now, the groomers did a great job. Tote Road is in great condition as is Timberline and Scoot. Lower Comp Hill was the trail of the day.

Timberline is now open

Snowmaking Today on White Nitro, Upper Comp Hill, The Still Unnamed park, The Superpipe and there were a few wet guns on Windrow.

Incredible Day

What a day, temps warmed up a lot, this morning temps were around 0, but by the end of the day it was 11 degrees at the top of Spillway, there was a little wind, and it was mostly sunny. Conditions today continue to be incredible, all groomed trails are packed powder, I did find a few scratchy places, but nothing serious. Ripsaw and Boomauger had some great snow. Glancer wasnt very good, the powder firmed up and wasnt very forgiving. Windrow where it was groomed was horrible, very icy from the running water. Timberline was all untracked corduroy today. Spillway was styrofoam, I didnt ski it, but it looked horrible. Winters way was decent. Lower Gondi line wasnt bad if you skied the very right side, the guns were blowing very wet snow. Timberline Chair was not running today due to some mechanical issues, but should be open tomorrow. West mtn is scheduled to run this weekend.

Snowmaking today on Kings Landing, Lower Gondi, Narrow Gauge and The New still unnamed park. Upper Gondi, Wedge and Windrow should see snowmaking soon. Snowmaking is done on the superpipe for now, construction should start soon.

We Finally Got Snow

I went out this afternoon after everybody left and the snow piled up, we had about 8 inches then and probably over a foot now, The Snow was very lite and fluffy, its perfect. Lots of trails opened today, probably most of the mountain will be open tomorrow, well maybe not lifts because its supposed to be windy, but most trails. They did continue to make snow today, not much, but there were a few guns going. Snowmaking should start on the halfpipe tonight or tomorrow.

Snow on the way

I did not ski this weekend, but I heard conditions were not good. From what I heard, early Saturday morning temps really warmed up and we got some rain, this was after everything was groomed, then temps dropped and everything froze solid. People i talked too said today was a little better, but it is still really firm. It looks like we will be getting a little snow tomorrow, it sure will help.

What a day

Today was an incredible day, temps started off in the low 20's and ended in the low 30's, we had a little sun, but it was mostly cloudy, the light was kinda flat at times, but most of the day it was fine. Conditions today were great, I skied Ripsaw 3 more times today and it was fairly decent. Haulback was great today, the lower half was a bit scratchy, but overall it was good. Widowmaker and Flume were styrofoam but will great when they get groomed out. Ramdown was ok, but the snowmakers blew some wet snow, be careful on the top pitch tomorrow, its most likely going to be a bit firm, they blew some really green snow there. Lower Boomauger has some great snow. Whiffletree is ok, but a bit scratchy was wet snow. Lombard X-Cut is now open, it was ok, nothing really to watch out for. Sluice and Kings Landing were incredible. Narrow Gauge was great once it opened late in the day and Lower Comp Hill was fresh corduroy at 3PM. Hayburner was closed for Racing. Lower Timberline and Scoot were hard packed and Tote Road was firm but in great condition.

Snowmakers were out on Lower Gondi and Ramdown this morning, but temps rose and they had to shut down. They made snow all day on Spurline and Started guns up late this morning on Upper Timberline.

Conditions today were fantastic, mostly packed powder but it is starting to get more hard packed as the week goes on. Haulback was in good condition. Widowmaker and Flume were great this morning with soft man made snow then became styrofoam in the afternoon. Ramdown was in great shape all packed powder. Upper Ripsaw was open today and was in decent condition, lots of brush but not bad. Whiffletree was had a lot of granular snow. Sluice, Skidder and Kings Landing were perfect this morning. Scoot was more hard packed than anything else.

Widowmaker is now open

Brrr, it was cold today but the conditions were incredible, it was a perfect sunny day with no wind. Temps were probably in the teens. Conditions keep getting better. King Pine reopened today and Widowmaker was incredible, the snowmakers did a great job, there is a ton of snow and they only had 1 gun that was just a little wet. Flume is still closed, but there are guns all over it and will probably be open tomorrow. Ramdown was perfect packed powder and Haulback looked like it was in great condition too. Tohaul wasnt bad, just had to watch out for the skating rink up top. Whiffletree was open and conditions were great, lots of dry man made snow. Lombard X-cut is open but its kind of sketchy so be careful. Sluice, Kings Landing, Tote Road and Scoot were all great packed powder too. Narrow Gauge and Hayburner were both closed for racing.

Its getting better

The weather today wasn't bad, we had temps in the 20's with a little wind, we had some sun and clouds. Conditions thanks to yesterdays snow are much much better. The base is now packed powder instead of hard pack/ice, but secondary conditions in places is granular, all in all its not bad. Sluice was the trail of the day, good job snowmakers you finally made good snow on a trail, there were only a few guns that were a little wet but basically it was all retail snow. Narrow Gauge was in great condition, nice packed powder. Hayburner was closed for racing. Kings Landing wasnt bad, hopefully tomorrow it will be even better. Tote Road was good, lots of people and rocks on Chicken pitch, but much better than last week. Scoot wasnt bad except they only groomed 1/3 of the lower half, the ungroomed was all crud and nasty. The East side of the mountain was closed today and will be again tomorrow.

We finally got some snow, 6-8 inches of wet heavy snow, not the powder we've been waiting for but at least its a good base, it wont blow away. COnditions were ok today but nothing special, tomorrow should be great. The Snowmakers are back at work tonight and we could see additional trails open for this weekend.

What A Crazy Weekend

When I left my house in the valley Saturday morning around 10, it was sunny and around 38 degrees, I got to the mountain and it was pouring rain and temps in the 50's. Conditions were not bad, except of course it was pouring. Hayburner, Skidder, Sluice and Ramdown were in good condition, Tote Road had many many bare spots and Whiffletree was barely skiable in the morning and gone by the end of the day.

Sunday Conditions were not as bad as expected, Hayburner was very granular, but not terribly icy, it was icy on the last pitch, but not bad considering. Sluice was a bit more icy. Skidder was closed as was Kings Landing. Tote Road was open, they were making snow on it. I didnt ski it but heard it had mostly wet guns, lots of ice, granular and lots of death cookies. I have seen conditions much worse

Overcast

Today was overcast with temps in the mid 30's in the morning, then up to high 40's later in the day. It rained a little this morning. Conditions today were not bad, it was actually firm but edgeable. Haulback and Ramdown were fun because there was nobody to be found over there, but The snow was sticky last night, so the grooming didnt come out good. Whiffletree was kinda soft, with a little ice and lots of brown spots popping up. Skidder was in great condition, Kings Landing was too, but a little firmer than yesterday. Tote Road is in great condition except for brown and bare spots.

Sluice wasnt bad, but there was a lot of people skiing it. Lower Winters and Boardwalk were in great condition. Kings Landing was also in great condition and Hayburner was closed for racing. Lower Timberline was in good condition. Sluice was kinda granular and skied off and Lower Tote Road was very heavy granular.

Warm and Sunny in January

Today was a great day, its was mostly sunny, and temps in the high 20's, low 30's with a little wind. Conditions today were great compared to what it was before vacation week. I rode Whiffletree and King Pine for the first time today, it was pretty quiet on the eastside compared to The Superquad which had a huge line. Haulback was great this morning, it was all corduroy, coverage could be a lot better, but at least its open. Ramdown was pretty good today and so was Lower Boomauger which is open with all natural snow. Whiffletree is in good condition, some ice here and there but not bad. Tohaul was horrible first thing this morning, the snowguns were blowing very wet snow. Sluice had some great snow and Boardwalk and Lower Winters were in great condition. Lower Timberline and Scoot were also in great condition all packed powder. Narrow Gauge was in the worst condition, lots of ice. Lower Gauge wasnt bad.
