Cold air is coming

WOW, what a difference a day makes, we lost a lot of snow last night, there are a lot of bare spots now. Today the snow was kinda firm in places and soft in others, there was only a handful of people out there today. The mtn was mostly clear, but the valley was fogged in. No grooming last night, Tote Road is too thin for that now. Cold air is coming late Friday night, but we may get some rain before that happens. Im sure by this time next week we'll have at least 3-4 more trails open.

When I left my house it was quite foggy with some drizzle, I wasnt expecting conditions to be very good, but when i came around Oh my Gosh corner, the mtn wasnt totally socked in. It was foggy at the bottom and the top, but most of Tote Road was clear with great visibility and great snow. It was springlike and very carvable. I quit at 10 when CVA arrived, they had a slalom course set up on Lower Tote Road.

Opposite of Yesterday

Well it wasnt warm and sunny and soft snow like yesterday, but it wasnt bad. Today it was foggy and cloudy, temps in the low 30's with some light snow and drizzle(snizzle). Tote Road firmed up, when I was out it was firm but carvable and Chicken pitch has more small rocks showing than yesterday. Looks like snowmaking temps return This weeekend.

What A Day

Today was a great day, it would have been even better if it was in the Spring. It was warm and overcast with soft snow. Tote Road was in great condition today, but you really need your rock skis now, there are lots of brown spots and a few bare spots around and quite a few loose rocks. It was pretty quiet on the mtn today with mostly locals. Looks like snowmaking temps will finally return this weekend

Blackout Day #1

Today was sunny and warm. This is the first blackout day of the season, so I did not go skiing today, but I heard that Tote Road was in decent condition, but there was a lot of people. They now have Skidway and The Landing open. Im not sure if they made snow last night, if they did it wasnt much. Hopefully tonight they will be able to make snow, but temps are forecasted to be marginal for the next week.

They made snow on Lower Winters Way and The Landing last night, they are going to try and have Skidway open for the weekend. Day 2

Day #2. Today Tote Road was all groomed out and the snow spread out, most of the trail is covered from side to side, with a good base. Conditions were hard packed and machine groomed. Snowmaking shut down this morning and it became quite warm, it was a nice sunny day. Snowmaking will resume tonight on The Landing and Lower WInters Way. It looks like temps will become to warm tomorrow for snowmaking and it probably wont be cold enough until early next week.

Opening Day

The Snowmakers and Groomers Did an amazing job this morning and last night, I was amazed at how much snow was at the bottom of the quad this morning considering yesterday at 4PM there was no snow down there. For Opening day Tote Road was in pretty decent shape, it had a good base. Conditions were variable, you could find corduroy this morning, they groomed 2 passes, moosh, some ice, death cookies and some nice man made powder. The Guns were going the entire length of the trail, most of them were blowing good snow, but there were some that were making a mess. Snowmaking has started on The Landing and Kings Landing.

Opening day could be tomorrow

Snowmaking is going strong on Tote Road with guns blowing almost all the way to the bottom. They did make snow down to the Superquad last night, but it got a little warm today, so they shut some guns down. THe Superquad could start turning tomorrow at noon. If they do open tomorrow bring your rock skis, because it will be a little thin. Sugarloaf Could be the first Resort in The East to open this year.

The Guns are Going

The Season hasnt started like we expected, but its cold now and the snowmakers have fired up once again on Tote Road, the mtn says we could open Tuesday, but Wednesday or maybe even Thursday is more likely.

Way to warm to make snow today, but the snow on Tote Road has held up from the rain. The mountain is gearing up for the season. Gepettos opens tonight. In case you didnt already know, The Ski and snowboard rentals has been combined and relocated in the upper level of the base lodge with new equipment racks, they are pretty cool. The location of the old snowboard rental shop above The Bag will now become another locker room.
